  4. Hey friends,
Today I’m celebrating the big 66! This site is still new, but I wanted to share the moment with you here. If you’d like to drop a birthday wish in the comments, I’d love to see them.

  5. Podcast Update – Coming Tomorrow
Hey everyone, quick update about Fiction on the Edge: “The Podcast”.

Episode 2 will be coming tomorrow morning instead of tonight. I know I promised a two-week schedule, but this one is a week late — and here’s why.
Time simply slipped away. I’ll be honest — I bit off a little more than I could chew at first. Between my full-time job, running our apprenticeship program, and ensuring I give my apprentices and the company that employs me my full focus (as I should), I couldn’t afford to let those responsibilities take a back seat.
On top of that, add in short story production, website maintenance, and balancing family life… it was more of a challenge than I anticipated. It’s taken me some time to find my rhythm.

The good news is I’ve grasped the challenge now, and I’m ready to move full steam ahead. Like anything worth doing, the balancing act takes practice, research, and a few adjustments before you gain full control.
Thank you all for your patience and support — Episode 2 drops tomorrow, and from here on, the edge is only getting sharper.

  7. A Glimpse Beyond Core Fall

    The universe is expanding.

I’m proud to introduce Game Day, a brand-new novel that opens another side of the Core Fall universe. While it stands on its own as a thrilling story, its true meaning will only become clear when the sequel to Core Fall arrives.

To fully experience the saga as it unfolds, you’ll want to read Game Day now — because when the threads converge, every detail will matter.

Available today on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and coming soon right here on FictionOnTheEdge.com
    .

Step into the story early. Discover the pieces before they fit together. The future of the Core Fall universe is already in motion.

  8. UPDATE:
I’m sorry to report that we won’t be able to set up for a live show at the House of Horrors in Laurel, Maryland this season.
However, I will still be there with one of my crew members, and we’ll be taping on location.
Unfortunately, I didn’t receive a response regarding the necessary protocols for setting up a full production. So for now, I’ll be filming solo — which allows me to work without needing permits or permissions.
I’ll continue to pursue the proper clearances for next season, and I hope to see you there then.

Until then — stay tuned, stay curious, and stay on the edge.

  9. Hello fiction fanatics!

I’m excited to share my newest project with you — a brand-new short story series launching right here on Edge Tales. This time, I’m doing something a little different. The upcoming story, “Time,” kicks off a short-form novel series, written in a fresh style and new genre you haven’t seen from me before.

If you’ve read Core Fall or Game Day, you already know I love keeping you on your toes. So as a thank-you to all my loyal fans, I’m giving you this one completely free — an original series, exclusive to Edge Tales on YouTube and right here on the site.

Part One drops Saturday night, 11/22/2025.
You don’t want to miss it.

    Until then —
Stay Tuned. Stay Curious. And Stay on the Edge.

  10. Hello again!

Quick update — I made a small mistake in the last post. The name of the upcoming short-form novel is not “Time” (that one just wrapped and was still fresh in my mind). The official title of the new series is “Crashed.”

Part One drops this Saturday, and I’ll release a new part each week until the finale.

Thanks so much for your continued support — see you soon!

  11. “CRASHED” Part One: Incoming

    Hello again,
Just a quick note before tomorrow’s drop.
My new short-form sci-fi horror series, Crashed, officially begins this Saturday at 12:00 PM EST.
Unlike my other stories, this one unfolds episode by episode, following a quiet rural night that turns into something no one was prepared for. A strange light. A distant impact. A choice that changes everything.
Part One introduces Ken on the night of the incident — and what he discovers in the ravine is only the beginning.
This series will release one part every week until the finale.
Thank you for sticking with me and supporting Edge Tales as it grows into something bigger than just stories.

    See you very soon.
    Barrie

  12. Update for My Amazing Fans

Hey everyone — just a quick update! Due to a flu bug sweeping through my production crew, we won’t be releasing the podcast episode today as planned. Your health comes first, always, so we’re letting the team rest and recover.

But good news — we’re doubling up next Saturday!
You’ll get both the new podcast episode and Part 7 of “Crashed” together.

Thanks for your patience, support, and for being part of this growing universe. Stay safe, and we’ll catch you next weekend!

    Barrie Carter

  13. I wanted to say, I listen to your short stories on YouTube and all of them are excellent. Just wanted to say that because of the shorts, I purchased Core Fall, I can’t wait for the sequel, Core Fall is a really good novel and I recommend it to anyone who appreciates good fiction. Please keep us updated on your new projects.

    1. Hello Donald,
I’m truly honored by your message — thank you for taking the time to share it. I’m thrilled to hear that the YouTube shorts drew you into Core Fall, and even more so that the novel resonated with you.
To answer your request: Yes, I’m currently deep into writing a new novel: Beyond the Universe, and the sequel to Core Fall–Core Fall: Zero Hour. It expands on the universe, raises the stakes, and dives into the fallout from the events of the first book. I think you’re going to enjoy where it goes next.
You’ll be seeing updates soon, not just on the sequel, but also on some exciting new Edge Tales content and interactive projects we’re developing — including something very special for returning fans like you.
Thanks again for the support — and for recommending Core Fall. It means more than you know.

      Stay on the edge,
      Barrie
