Tonight’s Edge Tale follows Chuck, a boy haunted by a wish he never should have made. What begins as a trip to the mall becomes a chilling descent into silence.

Edge Tales – The Quarter

Chuck was fourteen when his grandfather Moses—nicknamed for his long white beard—pressed an old, faded quarter into his hand.

“Keep this with you, Chuck,” Grandpa said. “As long as you have it, nothing bad will ever happen.”

Two years later, Grandpa was gone. And now, at sixteen, Chuck was struggling—at school, at home, with life itself.

Today, he skipped class and wandered the mall. At the fountain, he reached for change, like always. But his pockets were empty.

Then he remembered. Grandpa’s quarter.

He pulled it from his wallet… tossed it into the water… and made his wish.

At first, nothing seemed different. But as he headed home, he began to notice… the mall was silent. The streets, empty. No cars. No voices.

At the house, the lights were off. No mom. No dad. No one.

His phone had no service. His calls rang into nothing.

Could it have been the wish? It now rang in his mind— “I wish I was alone… I wish I was alone… I wish I was alone.”
